Bay Area Maker Faire 2016

The Weygers Foundation was thrilled to attend our first event at the 2016 Maker Faire. Thousands of people stopped by the booth to say hello and learn more about Weygers and the mission of the Foundation. We handed out our saucer-shaped Discopter Fun Fact cards, and used the mural at the back of our booth as a photo backdrop. We had a lot of fun, and extend a warm thank you to everyone who came out and made our first event so special.

The Weygers Foundation is strongly connected to the makers movement, as Alexander Weygers is a great original maker. As an original inventor, engineer, sculptor, builder, and more, Weygers' life work shows his joy of creation, and desire for learning and mastering his trades. His ability to create gave him independence and self-reliance, allowing him to live sustainably. After his death, Weygers left behind a legacy of innovation, and is a source of inspiration for the aspiring makers of today.

Weygers lives on no man's terms but his own, beyond all social pretense with the artistic productivity worthy of Picasso, with the inventive resources of an Indian scout, with the endurance of a frontiersman, and with an innovative visionary mind that is somewhere in front of the Advant-Garde .
